Merry Christmas! Happy birthday! Happy new year! What else am I missing?

Hi! We are alive and doing well. It has been a very busy few weeks around here, and I'm trying to stay off the computer to enjoy my babies before I return to work (which is in a few days!) Truett had a wonderful Christmas. Santa brought him lots of cool new toys. We also celebrated his second birthday - all of these deserve their own posts!! And sweet Mila is now 8 weeks old! My baby girl is getting so big. Again, another separate post. I mostly just wanted to blog to keep this alive. So this is a list of blog entries I need to do someday...

My baby sister

DSC_0026.JPG, originally uploaded by cathysphotos.

The first week with a new baby sister was a little rough for Truett. I think it was hard for him to share the spotlight, and very hard for him to see mommy feeding this little person around the clock. We saw a few tantrums we' d never seen before. We are all very happy to be over that! Tru has really come around now and likes to say, "my baby sister!". He also loves to give her kisses, hold her, and show off for her. Mila is such a sweet love. She has the most beautiful little face, and loves watching her big brother. We are so lucky to have this sweet addition to our family!

She's here!

Our sweet baby girl arrived on Tuesday November 2,2010. She is already 16 days old! It's about time I write up a birth story and this one is actually pretty good.

It all started at my 37 week appointment when I found out I was 4 cm dilated. From that point on I became obsessed with "listening" to my body and trying to figure out when I was in active labor. This was just a few days before Halloween. On October 30th, after a day of contractions, Ted and I headed to the hospital....but no change so they sent me home the next morning. We got to enjoy an awesome Halloween with Truett (I will have to post about that, too). At this point though it wasn't really safe for me to be in the office so I was working from home. On Tuesday, I spent an entire 2 hour meeting sitting on an exercise ball - I read somewhere that would help the baby descend so I thought, why not? Anyway. After working I picked up Truett and we headed to HEB for some much needed groceries. This is where the real action begins!

We complete our full shopping spree, pay for our groceries, and T gets his beloved buddy buck. Of course, once he gets that he wants out of the cart so here I was pushing the car cart, holding Truett, and waddling away from the cashier when - pop! - my water broke. I was wearing black pants and a black sweater around my waist so by instinct I grabbed the sweater and shoved it between my legs. My water was gushing! As fate would have it, I was about 5 steps in front of the Redi clinic inside HEB so I got there as fast as I could and found 2 nurses. I informed them my "water broke and it's everywhere," and they helped me out. I called Ted and told him to meet me at the hospital asap, I just knew this girl would come fast. He reminded me to call my friend Nichole to see if she could help me...again, my water ws still gushing everywhere at this point! Who knew there was so much? Must have been my lucky day because when she answered her phone and I told her where I was....she just happened to be walking into HEB too! Crazy. Next thing I know she has T and the groceries and we are walking out to her car, mind you I am still losing water this whole time! We make a mad dash to her house to drop off groceries and her son and then she takes T and me to the hospital. I called my doc on the way over so the hospital was already prepared for my arrival. Ted's mom was there waiting for us so Truett was taken care of, too.

Once I was settled and checked the nurses told me I was already 7 cm. I was not feeling painful contractions, just some cramping, but I ordered an epi STAT! Ah, sweet relief! The nurses then told me they would check me again at 8 pm but I told them they should probably go ahead do another check....sure enough I am now a 10 and ready to push. As luck would have it my dr was already at the hospital finishing up another delivery so he was in the room asap. A few pushes, about 5-10 minutes tops, and the little princess was here! My water broke around 5 pm and she was born at 7:46 pm. We still had not committed on a name but as soon as we saw her I knew she was a Mila (Mee-la), and Ted really liked Kaye, so Mila Kaye it was.

She was a perfect 6 pounds 4 ounces and 19.5 inches long. She immediately started nursing, which was such a relief since her brother had not. I don't think she has stopped since, lol.

I will have to save more posts to talk about Truett meeting her for the first time and how our first few weeks have been going...I just need some time....photos to follow.

Happy Kids

Playgroup this week was especially exciting for the kiddos because there was a Little Tikes bouncy house - outside, which we all know toddlers love to be outside - and EVERYONE loved that thing! Marley's mama, Becca, snapped some cute pictures of some very happy kids and I just had to steal some of her shots. We're so lucky to have all our playgroup friends!

How do you like our attempt at "maternity shots" - ha ha ha! Truett was sweet enough to give his baby sister a little peck, and then of course he proceeded to pounce all over my belly (not pictured).

Oct zoo, originally uploaded by cathysphotos.

We took a little family trip the zoo just a few weeks ago and as usual True man had a blast. We didn't even realize we were there on "enrichment day" which meant we got to see the animals live in action. They were all getting special treats and were super active. We saw the albino alligator eat a huge rat, and then two boa constrictors eat 2 bunnies (eek).

One Month

Wow, here is my last month of pregnancy!! In some ways I feel like I've been pregnant for a long time, but in other ways it has absolutely FLOWN by this time. I had a horrible kidney infection about 2 weeks ago, but ever since then everything had been progressing along just fine. In fact, the constant backache I had for MONTHS seems to be gone. I'm not even having the excrutiating pelvic pain I had with Truett at this stage. I wonder if it's because she is higher, or if it's because my bones and ligaments have already been stretched once before so it's not as noticeable this time? Who knows. Either way...now we just wait as she plumps up. Aat my last OB appt my doctor, once again, made the comment that I would not go to 40 weeks. He told me the same thing with Truett and he was right, I delivered him at 36.5 weeks. I have NO idea if he's going to be right about this and I don't want to get my hopes up...so I am telling myself one more month still.

The other night Ted got a taste of Miss Baby B's tap dancing (B as in Borel...she is still nameless!). She is quite the mover and shaker! I still have no idea how Truett is going to react. We talk about his "baby sister" - which he can say - and how he is going to be the best big brother, etc....but I think until she is here he won't really get it. He is such a little love to Mocha I hope he's the same way with the baby.

Speaking of True, he is getting so grown up to us these days. He is fascinated with daddy fixing things - "Daddy feex it!" and lately he is fascinated with Mocha's pooping, lol, and goes outside to squat like the dog, too. He also enjoys helping daddy pooper scoop the backyard with his shovel. Maybe this can be his second chore (his first is/was feeding Mocha, but we're not very consistent with it yet). He is still sleeping in his crib and he is quite content in there with his jungle of animals so until he shows signs of wanting to get out we are keeping it that way. I just love that little man more than any words could describe. He has just started repeating "I love you" and it sounds something like "wuv you'd"...melts me in a puddle everytime.

I know, how wonderful of me to take a picture in public restrooms....it is the only time I even think about belly shots though, ha! And it might be my last belly shot, too....considering I only take them once every few weeks...

Football! Football!

We have a little football fan on our hands. Truett has now been to 3 college football games and he loves them. This past weekend we tailgated for a good 3 hours and for the last hour he kept pointing to the stadium yelling, "Football!" He was ready to get inside and watch the action. Myra has more cute pictures I will post on the blog. I've been (once again) pretty horrible about taking pictures of my own. I do have some cute ones from our zoo trip but they're on Ted's camera and I have a few on mine too, I just need to load them on the comp.

In other news, we are getting ready for baby girl. I'm in full on nesting mode. Her room is pretty close to being complete, the newborn clothes have been washed, the bassinet is already downstairs, I bought some new nursing tanks...we are 5 weeks out from her due date. I can't wait to meet this sweet baby girl! We are completely stumped on a name though. There have been many ideas thrown out over the past couple of months so it will be interesting to see which one it ends up being. I have been feeling anxious about being ready for 2 kids, but now I'm SO excited to see this face and to have her join our family I feel like she can't come soon enough!

Pappy & True
We are really enjoying football season this year at UH with our season tickets. Our team is also doing great, so far, which makes it even better! Even at 8 months pregnant I am having a lot of fun....except for my poor back from sitting on the bleachers, lol. It's especially fun because we sit with a group of some of our best friends from UH. Thanks to Myra for getting some good shots, I always forget my camera!! Sara couldn't make it this week so Pappy was able to come along. Truett was a trooper and stayed the entire 3.5 hours in the sun and heat. He had a good time hanging with his buddy, Ellie. They were able to play in the a/c during the second quarter (thanks to Bri's VIP passes), and then Tru enjoyed watching the halftime show and the rest of the game with all of us. I was looking at our tickets last night and realized I could very well have a baby before the season is over...or not...you just never know!!

I think my belly tripled this week!

Note to Self: Charge Camera

Once again I have been lacking in picture taking and have been using my phone camera sporadically. So, here are a few funny shots in poor quality:

Morning Time - T adores this puppy he got for Christmas last year. He really adores any dog/puppy - living or stuffed. He also loves his Ah-me's, that fruit puree pouch hanging out of his mouth, and most of the time he enjoys this $10 Little Tikes kitchen I bought him. I love his little sleepy face in the morning.

This past weekend Ted was at the annual Borel Stagg weekend so T and I had some bonding time and Borel time of our own. His sweet cousin Dylan even stopped by after her Dr's visit and I only got one grainy picture. She is too cute! Here are the cousins:

And finally, my HEB Buddy. LOL. Truett knows when we go to the grocery store (HEB) he will get a "dollar" (fake) at the checkout. They have a little machine to stick in the fake dollar and out comes a bubble with a sticker inside. Truett can put the dollar in the money slot and then he loves getting to push the button and watch the crane grab his sticker. And then of course he loves the sticker...and promtply chews it once we're in the car.

A little nervous energy

So, I have to admit I'm at that point in my second pregnancy where I am starting to feel some nervous energy. A little bit of insomnia here, butterflies there, doubt, worries, fears, anxieties....then I remind myself to write it all down, swallow it, and focus on the better half - the excitement, the newness again, the miracle of a healthy baby, a beautiful girl, a bigger heart, a sibiling for Truett, a feeling of completeness for our little family...sigh, it's going to be okay. :)

One day I will look back and show my baby girl this picture and tell her it about sums about pregnancy while mama carried her:

This is me going gaga for a piece of cake at my friend Sara's wedding shower. I have been a cake and icing craving fool this time around!!

And, speaking of Sara's shower, here we all our with the bride-to-be. You can't really tell, but that's my 30 week belly right there on the end:

My Boy True: Currently

Time for some Truett updates because I know I will forget all this if I don't write it down somewhere. He is now 20.5 months....going on 6. He just LOVES hanging out with the "big kids" on the block. (You know, the 1st and 2nd graders ;)

- Current Book(s): Word Book & Night Night Prayer
- Current Playlist: "Wheels on the Bus" (motions included), and "If You're Happy and You Know It" (motions also included)
- Current Color: He says blue a lot, but is getting good at repeating other colors.
- Current Drink: He doesn't really care what it is - water, milk, juice
- Current Food: Mash-Ups squeezable fruit (we *might* be coming to the end of an era here but not sure), GoGurts (a new addition to his food rotation), applesauce, pretzel sticks, watermelon, shredded cheese, sweet potato fries...and let's not forget ranch dressing, BBQ sauce, and ketchup
- Current Favorite Show: Not a TV watcher, although he does know who Elmo is...but not like he'll sit still to watch him
- Current Wishlist: A mini 4 wheeler that's safe for his size (the neighbor kids have this and he loves it!), toddler table and chairs (for Mr. Independent), paint he can use in the house (he loves to paint but this is a very messy outdoor activity!)
- Current Needs: Needs his weekly doses of his grandma's who he absolutely adores. Also needs his Momo who he asks about every morning, and of course his mommy for cuddle time and daddy for silly tricks
- Current Triumphs: Kicking like a fish in the tub and the pool and blowing bubbles! Something I have waited to see all summer long. Also, major language explosion. Talking in 2-4 word sentences sometimes and understanding so much. "Mommy and daddy, bye-bye?" (when he wants us all to go somewhere) "Momo night-night?" (when he wants Momo to come in his room when I put him down for bed ) "Daddy ho?" (when Mocha barks in the evening Truett assumes daddy is home and starts asking for him)...and there's a lot more. He will pick up toys that someone has given him and he remembers and associates it with that person...and he is repeating everything...yikes....
- Current Bane(s) of my Existence: Being outside. Must.be.outside!
- Current Celebrity Crush: He'll have to get back on this one
- Current Indulgence: M&Ms as a very special treat
- Current #1 Blessing: Being a future big brother!
- Current Outfit: Today he is wearing khaki shorts and a t-shirt that says "I get my handsome from my dad"
- Current Excitement: Animals, puppies, bugs, balls, and cars
- Current Mood: A sweetheart, silly, goofy, curious toddler...who is getting very good at asserting when something is "MIIIINE!"
- Current Link: http://store.ecomom.com/Healthy-Food-for-Children-s/298.htm Where mommy can by the Ah-mees he loves so much.

Preggo Update

It's true what they say....your second pregnancy flies by! I'm already in the 3rd tri, at 29 weeks this week. We have our 3D ultrasound tomorrow, so it will be really nice to see how the baby is doing. It's also that time to go register at the hospital (so when I go into labor they can just whisk us into a room instead of sitting around doing paperwork!), and we need to think about painting the room, setting up the furniture, and sanitizing all the baby stuff. I know we still have a few weeks but it is time for me to get on the ball!!

Here are this week's shots. Not my best photos, but it was 5:30 am. Maybe in a few weeks I'll have Ted take some good ones instead of me and my camera phone :P

Note to self: put on some makeup and lipstick before taking picture next time. :P

Tru-Tru

Just a few pictures of my cutie-pie. Hard to believe he is going to be 20 months old in just a few days. He is turning into such a hilarious little man. He is repeating everything we say and just being a fun loving, goofy, outgoing kid. Ted taught him "cheers!" and then we all clink our glasses together and drink...so last night at the dinner table he kept repeating "ears! ears!" and I had no idea what he was trying to say....then I realized he was holding his cup and wanted mommy to do "cheers!" with him. :)

CHEESE!!! Snack break at Target.

Playing at the park with my cool shades on.

Helping mommy water the lawn.

Bump Watch

We are approaching 27 weeks! Wow, time is flyin'. We have our 3D ultrasound on Sept 3rd (I can't wait!!), and then it's really time to start cracking the whip and getting baby's room all set up.

Jibber Jabber

Truett is talking more and more these days. Of course, if you're not around him all the time you might not know what he is saying, but you'll eventually figure it out. He is also learning his manners quite well. He is now saying please (pease), thank you (dank you), bless you (beh-you), excuse me (mu-me...or something like that). He even knows when to use these words, it's just too cute. My favorite is when he actually strings these words with other words - like "mu-me, Momo" or "dank you mommy and daddy" - melts me!!

Ted is teaching Truett all kinds of funny tricks and games these days - little T is in a copy cat phase so it's fun to watch him pick up new things on the spot. He is all about copying animals sounds, arm motions, dance moves, trying to jump up and down, say what we say, play pretend (whether driving a car, being a doctor, playing in the kitchen, etc). He's also in a very "MINE!" phase...I guess I knew this one was coming! I even see the beginning signs of a daddy phase...

This weekend when he woke up on Saturday morning I brought him back to my bed to snuggle and read some books. My shirt was poking over my belly button so Truett reached down and kissed my belly, then took my shirt and covered it and said "bye bye, baby!" I hadn't even mentioned the baby that day....he just doesn't really forget anything.

Ted has some new but oldish pictures that I'll be uploading soon.

Pregnancy

I will call this my updated almost 6 month picture:

This pregnancy is whizzing by...here I am at 23 weeks with Truett poking my belly. I've been awful about taking belly pics this time around!
