Fearless

We have a fearless little boy on our hands.

I took Tru to the pool on Sunday at our neighborhood YMCA to see how he would like the water this year. He LOVED it. He was thrilled to be in the pool. Splashing his face, attempting to kick. He was even intentionally dunking his face in the water. I had to call it quits though when he was trying to set himself free in the 4feet deep water. Really, this little man thinks he can do it all! I called the Y yesterday to set up some private lessons. I'm not sure how you can teach a 15 month old to swim, but at the very least maybe we can work on floating, holding on to things and kicking, etc. I hope he is good for the instructor when we start! I did go to Target yesterday and bought him one of those full suit life jacket things that they make for young toddlers. We'll probably take him again this weekend and see how he does with that. It might give him more freedom.

We also had Mandy's baby shower this weekend. It was so beautiful! I think Miss Dylan's closet is overflowing from all the clothes she got. Truett was pretty well behaved. He hung out for about half the time, and then the other half he wanted to play cars and run around outside playing with the fountain.

Unfortunately, we have not taken any good pictures lately. T doesn't sit still for long so it's not easy. I did have my camera around for some of his funny moments from the past week or so...

My big bruise... (This is a not-so-funny moment)

My hideout in the backyard...Mocha's doghouse.

Climbing my chair in the kitchen.

Truett got out and looked who hopped in...

One last thing. Tantrums. Hoooo Boy, those are not fun. :P If anyone is reading this, how do you deal with yours? So far, from what I can tell trying to calm down Truett does nothing but cause him to get even more mad (like hugging or holding him). What I've been doing is removing him from the location if it's dangerous (on the cement, near sharp furniture, etc) and then I just have to let him deal with it. I tell him I'm sorry he's mad but mommy loves him and has to keep him safe (his tantrums are usually sparked when he wants to do something dangerous and I tell him no or move him). Anyway, so far they have lasted very long but they're not pretty! Last night it all started b/c he wanted to open and close the back gate...you know, where rusted screws and nuts and bolts stick out, along with splinters, etc. I did let him try it a few times, but then we went inside and had bathtime. Afterwards he ran to the back door and told me "out"....that's when it began...

Blah Blah Blah

I saw that music video this morning while I was working out and I now I have the song "BLAH, BLAH, BLAH" stuck in my head. If you don't know what I am talking about just google it. I cannot get it out!!!

We have been busy, as usual. So busy, in fact, that I cannot even remember what we've been doing. Truett has been cracking us up, also as usual. The other night he took his picture of his BB and grandma off the fridge and put on a show for us. He kissed their picture about 5 times and then was so overcome with love/happiness he pretty much lost his breathe and did this adorbale "bow" and laugh...really, where is the camera when you need it? Speaking of cameras, I have been awful about snapping pictures. It's too hard to carry around this awesome object with neat buttons and clicky sounds and little tiny lights...that is pretty much crack for curious toddlers :)

Instead of my own pics, I will leave you with these adorable pictures taken from Cheryl, one of our playgroup mommy's. We celebrated Brooks' first brithday yesterday!

We were missing a few of the munchkins in this picture.

Family Fun

We had a nice little family packed weekend. Saturday morning I had the Rodeo 10K and my boys came out to support. I ended up running an official time of 46:36 (7:29/pace). Considering I have not been trianing and my weekly mileage has been at an all time low, I was pleased. After the 10K the 3 of us stayed downtown to enjoy the parade. This is our second annual parade together as a family of 3. Personally, I am hoping we can make this a tradition. It's just so typical Texas, why not? Ha ha.

We them went out to lunch and got home just as Tru was nodding off for his nap. He took a nap while Ted and I got ready for the Rodeo carnival. We met up with more family (BB and Pappy) at the carnival and Truett loved it. Unfortunately the kiddie part of the carnival was not operating (which means we''ll have to go back ;), but he still had a good time. I won him his first super cheesey carnival prize (a stuffed dog). Ted got his first and last fried Snickers (bleh! DO not try, people!)He also took some great pictures so as soon I can grab them off his camera I'll upload.

We also went church for the third weekend in a row. For an energetic 14 month toddler Truett is doing great in the service. I think we finally found a place we'll probably enjoy as a family for years to come. Many thanks to our "new" friends Nichole, Pat, and their adorbale boy G for introducing us to the place.

Goofy

We've been having a lot of family fun lately. With this goofy guy in tow, who wouldn't?

Glasses? Check. Keys? Check. Snack? Devoured already. (see crumbs on face)

Where's Truett?

I just had to share this adorbale picture of our playgroup bunch. This is from a few weeks ago so of course all of the kiddos have grown since then, but aren't they adorable? For some reason we are missing Reece in this picture - and funy thing is we are all at his house. We are having such a blast with all our new buddies!

DEEEE!!!!

This is a long wordy post, mostly for myself to remember since I sort of stopped updating the baby book...

Everything happens and goes by so fast, I figure I need to record some of the funny things Truett has been doing. He has become quite the copy cat. A few things he has done this week include sweeping (he saw me sweep the garage and has become obsessed with the broom ever since). How dare we take it away! He got mad at me last night b/c I had to take it out of his hands so he could take a bath. LOL.

He also LOVES to type on the computer with his daddy. He walks into Ted's study, grabs his keyboard (Ted gave him an old wireless keyboard and Tru knows just where it is), carries it over to Ted and says "daddy?" and expects to be placed in his lap so he can join daddy at the computer desk.

Tru is my little helper in the kitchen stirring pots (usually on the floor with his own spoon and empty bowls), cleaning with his rag and spray bottle (LOL), and always wanting "uuuu" so he can see what mom is doing on the counter. He also runs over to the fridge when he thirsty and tells me "Miiiii" for milk and/or water.

He also adores to DEEEEE!!!! and by that I mean to DANCE! We have a radio in the corner of the gameroom and he knows how to turn it on (it's an old one from high school...he can have it ;). He will scramble up the stairs saying DEEE!!! and then when he gets to the top he basically dances over to the radio chanting DEEE. It is adorbale, trust me.

He loves turning our fan remote on and off, he still likes to brush those pearly whites of his and he loves to read his books. He will try to climb on anything he can, loves the window blinds, peek-a-boo, hiding, chase, his tent, and throwing/kicking balls around the house and outside. He also takes off running when you tell him "ready, set, GO!" Oh, and now he loves putting things around his neck. What the heck? That is scary for a mom! He likes Mocha's leash, her collar, ties, cords, Mardi Gras beads, toy strings, etc. Talk about not being able to take your eyes off of him! He is a very active little guy and I wouldn't have it any other way.

What else? Oh, he has become very attached to both his grandmas! Just this past weekend he was around his BB and he could have cared less that Ted and I were with him. Then, on Monday my mom was over to watch him and he was very sad to see "gam-aww" leave. He is still our sweet boy giving out kisses to everyone (and everything) that he loves, including himself. LOL. Now if he sees his reflection he ends up kissing it. Hahahaha. And he willeven blow you kisses now when he tells you byebye. :melting: I think his favorite is still "MO-MO" though. He adores her.

He has a few new words, too - DEEE! for dance, Bay-Bay for baby (he has pictures of himself in his room and points/kisses to the bay-bay), and NAAAA or NAAACK for a snak when he is hungry. He will go to the pantry or fridge and let me know. He also knows when I have the diaper bag that there are snacks in there b/c hungry or not he will ask for one, LOL!

See why I need to do a better job about writing these things down as they happen?

HOT is the new NO

So, as most of us with toddlers know, the word NO is a great way to bring out a tantrum in the sweetest of kiddos. I figured out a while back it was much easier to do a better job of child proofing (we really slacked at first), and letting him explore than it is to constantly say NO and take something away. Well, this weekend I spent a lot of time in the kitchen baking and cooking. Of course, this is also my precious time with Truett so he was pretty close by. We had fun stirring pots together, banging wooden spoons on doors, spilling blueberries all over, playing with potholders, peek-a-boo under the kitchen towel, "cleaning" spills on the floor, etc, etc. He also learned all about the word HOT and now it's one of his favorite things to say (for now;). I can pretty much tell him anything is hot and he WILLINGLY backs away or stops what he is doing! I'm sure this won't last long but for now it's nice. I'm lovin' it.

Also, little man had his 3rd double ear infection last week. Poor thing he can't catch a break with his ears. I'm sure it stemmed from his lingering cold he had ALL of January. But, he is so so SO much better and we are very happy he is back to his 'ole self again.

This winter had been awful, especially for Houston standards. It feels like we've been indoors nonstop. Boo. Anyway, to keep us all from staying sane we've been trying new things to entertain True. Last weekend I got him a pop tent from Target and he goes nuts in that thing. It's a great way to release some of that 13.5 month energy.
